A few details to share on installing a remote start on the 2015 I-4 Canyon with a manual transmission: 1) Despite what GM's computers might say the GM "factory" remote start option does NOT work ! E.g. part GM 23487381, it has no "reservation mode" needed to ensure neutral and park brake selected.
My ex-husband had remote start on his manual truck. (He installed stereos and remote start for a living back when I met him and had done it himself.) He always left his truck in neutral, so it wasn't a problem. Of course, being a truck, relatives like his sister were inclined to borrow it. She left it in reverse.

Best answer. Default option is to enable the remote start before turning the key off while the handbrake is up.
